Office Hours 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday except holidays
The Wasco County Sheriff's Office provides primary law enforcement services throughout Wasco County with the exception of the City of The Dalles. The Office oversees Patrol, Criminal Investigations, 911 Communications, Parole and Probation and Emergency Management. Our budget for Fiscal Year 2007/2008 totaled $1,926,644.00.
Although we are considered a small Sheriff's Office (17 sworn positions), service to our community is the number one priority. A high degree of professionalism is achieved by hiring quality people and providing them with state of the art training. Training does not end when the academy is completed. On-going training through out a Deputies career not only refreshes their basic training but also allows each employee to expand their knowledge base in a variety of fields.
All Deputies have the opportunity to work as a detective investigating major crimes and narcotics offenses. Assignment as a Detective is normally for one year and affords the employee an opportunity for additional training and experience that enhances their abilities and professionalism. Deputies who have worked as a Detective may apply to work with the Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Team.
The Sheriff's Office also works Marine Patrol as well as Resource Enforcement assignments. Resource Enforcement is funded by a contract with the United States Forest Service and a grant from Oregon State Parks for Off Highway Vehicle patrols.
