May Primary, held May 15, 2018
The Wasco County Primary Election will be held on May 15, 2018. The focus of a primary election is to nominate Federal, State and local candidates for the November General Election.

The deadline for candidate filing for the following positions is not later than 5 pm on March 6, 2018. The local County positions that are open include:

  • Wasco County Commissioner, Position #1
  • Wasco County Commissioner, Position #3
The Candidate Filing Form, SEL 101 is available here. Candidates must pay EITHER a $50 filing fee, or collect signatures from active registered voters. The number of signatures required to file for County Commissioner is 1% of the votes cast for Governor in the prior General Election, which is 117 signatures. It is recommended that additional signatures are collected to account for potential ineligible/inactive voters who sign the signature sheet. Signatures must be collected from at least two different precincts.

Additional positions are open for Precinct Committeeperson, Male and Female, in all precincts. Information on these positions is available through your local Democratic and Republican Party chairs. To file, fill out form SEL 105 and file with our office no later than 5 pm, March 6, 2018.


Notice of Receipt of Ballot Title - White River Health District
Notice is hereby given that a ballot title for a measure referred by the WHITE RIVER HEALTH DISTRICT has been filed with the Elections Office of Wasco County, Oregon on February 15, 2018. The measure will be presented to the qualified voters of the district at the Primary Election held on MAY 15, 2018. The election will be conducted by mail pursuant to ORS 254.465. A copy of the measure text is available here.

Any elector dissatisfied with the ballot title may petition the Wasco County Circuit Court for review of the ballot title not later than the seventh business day after the title is filed with the Elections Officer. The last day to file a review is FEBRUARY 27, 2018. The challenger must notify the Wasco County Elections Office not later than 5:00 p.m. on the next business day following the day the petition for review is filed.
